Citroen DS-X 4X4
Despite the European financial difficulties across a host of manufacturers PSA is set to continue with its upmarket DS range. It will continue to grow at a pace with a chic and sporty softroader, which, more than likely will bear the name of DS-X. This project (B974) Citroen DS-X is a compact 4x4 door that would be in direct competition with current compact off roader’s like the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Nissan Qashqai and VW Tiguan. To do this, Citroen will utilise all the strong style advantages they have already gained with the currant DS line up.
The Citroen DS-X would measure around: 4.60m 1.85m to 1.65m wide and high. The style clearly uses all the latest achievements of Citroen DS9, with its rectangular grille and the double chevrons in the centre. The interior will be equipped with the best materials, with leather and aluminium everywhere. Under the bonnet the Citroen DS-X engines propose Hybrid diesel or petrol. There is also talk of a Hybride4 diesel 200 hp, but also a petrol hybrid combining the 1.6 THP 156 hp with an electric motor.
China is by far the world’s largest single car market and if it where not for the joint venture agreement that PSA and Changan motors signed in 2011, surely the Project B974, or DS-X may never have seen the light of day indeed Citroen is committed to launching a new DS every year in China until 2016.
